O.P. a link to url in your personal message?
does anybody know a way to do this, have a link as part of your personal message for contacts to click on ex)

nickname - everybody visit this

:o.. not to spam, but its sure better than pasting the entire URL into your personal message..

You can't. :(

But it'd be groovy if plus added a url tag...

Yeah, but that's not gonna happen, and a url tag in plus is better than nothing.

howbout smart url recognition
like most forums have
like if i write
code:
http://www.example.com
it will linkify it automatically without my having to put
code:
[url]
par example: http://www.example.com

something like that will be quite sure never be implemented. Not only due to possbile spam, but mostly because of the insecurity it brings (people will not see the actual link immediatly[*])

[*] there are ways to let the url be visible (eg: tooltip), but no matter how you implement it or do your best to show the url, the chances of clicking on a bad url is still way higher.

something like that already exists in Plus!:

In contactlist, right click the contact with an url in his name or PSM > Messenger Plus! Extra's > Open Internet Link

---------------

PS: all this has been suggested and discussed before though (can't find the thread at the moment). What I said in this post is also basically what has been said before and why it will not be added.

There are (were) also some patches (eg: StuffPlug plugin) which auto-highlighted links in the contactlist so you could click it immediatly.
