RE: WM/MSN and Yahoo Messenger
Windows Messenger is a much lighter version of MSN Messenger that comes with Windows XP computers (and Windows 2000 I think). It is used for conferences etc. rather than general use, it is used by more professional people who need something quick and light to make a conference call or discuss something with somebody quickly.

MSN Messenger is a more general IM client, and is easy to use but has a lot of features that appeal to the younger people and people who are just using MSN Messenger for fun rather than business purposes etc.

Yahoo Messenger has most of the features, but I really don't think it's as good for conference calls etc. MSN and Windows Messenger are easier to use.

If by "WM" you meant Windows Live Messenger, then Windows Live Messenger is just MSN Messenger with a new user-interface, different code and most importantly a hell of a lot more features.

My dad's company of 50+ and all most of their partners all use Y!M and it also seems to be a good choice as it is ?more secure? They never had a problem with it, and it seems to be a good choice.

It is installed by default, but not limited to, windows xp and windows 2000.

You can use it on anything Windows 9x + if i remember correctly.

They are both secure as far as I know, it's mostly down to personal preference.
