I have stupid dots between every word (i.e. it comes up when I hit the space bar) and when I make a new paragraph a weird bold sign comes up with it too.
Any way I can get rid of these because although it doesn't print with them, they're rather annoying!

Have You Tried Reinstalling It?

Hit "CTRL + *" then try it
hope it works

There should be a little icon like this in one of the bars at the top of the screen :

click it

It worked by pressing the weird sign button I had lost in my toolbar some where.
