i was going to but its too much effort to make it look good as a gif and some people still use IE6 so thats png out the window :P

You can actually make it as transparent png... And if the designer of this forum doesn't mind adding a few more codes in to support transparency in IE 6 and below, then there's no problem loading transparent images...  :P
But I don't think the designer would want to...

* MeEtc is using the Shady theme, and can't see any of the pretty designs...

EDIT: after poking into the CP and changing the theme, "Old Blue" theme still has animated snow from some other year....

I want it animated god-damn-it!

Anyway it does look nice and I never noticed the little flaw that everyone else pointed out (maybe it is just my screen size).

Lol i had to give Nathan the Plus Live logo :lol:, we will soon find out if hes any good :P
