Shoutbox

That's exactly my point Weyzza. The 'spam'box is there so people can.. shout. Nothing serious like making a thread.

Its fine the way it is.

Some people want quick & easy help, and the shoutbox is there right place for that (asides IRC)
Some people use it to communicate and have fun with other members, which if done in a thread, would be spam.
I think it's perfect.. and never fix things if they're not broken

It's a shoutbox. That's all there is to it. Does it really matter who gets to go there or not? It's not harming anybody if someone under that amount of posts is there.

People actually care about the shoutbox? O_o

I agree.

For example, sometimes people come in there because they're having trouble activating their forum accounts and can't post.

The "newbies asking for help" problem doesn't seem too bad, if you ask me. I think they quickly get the idea that the shoutbox is not for MsgPlus support.

Exactly... it's not a big deal if people spam... I usually ban them or prune their shouts anyway.

Guest shouting can be enabled at any time, but guests are usually dodgy, so I just leave it disabled. In fact, yesterday I blocked guests from even viewing the shoutbox because I've seen lots of open proxies accessing it lately, which seems quite suspicious...

As for the skinning, I'll think about it. I'm sure Johnny_Mac would enjoy having the awesomest background image ever again.

What if they needed to activate their account, but did something wrong/something went wrong that wasnt their fault and they need an admin to activate it?

WDZ, can't you make the look of shoutbox (theme) be stored in the user settings, INSTEAD of using cookies (or whatever that is used).

I'd love that.

And a better skinning engine would be awesome.
