It would depend... if it's just like an 8-3 school or whatever... yeah it could wait... But if it's a private high school or something where you're at school all the time in dorms and stuff... yeah... that'd be something I could understand.

Still, just say you're not telling them anything, if he's an IT teacher he should know, if not then maybe he's not in a position to teach a class (Smilie)
You'll be surprised how little teachers how to know to teach ICT. They're not required to know how to use one in practice, they only need theory to get their qualification. =/ Fortunately, most schools don't hire the ones that can't do shit. =p

I too am stuck with a under qualified computer "teacher".

It's pretty funny how she said something among the lines of "MS-DOS is superior to UNIX. In UNIX you must enter a whole bunch of commands to do a simple task, whereas MS-DOS has a command for everything". I couldn't stop laughing when she went away from where I was sitting.

At least your computer teach didn't just say "go look for a tutorial on the net for this work we are doing" or just write up stuff word for word from a tutorial on a white board or teach you something like how to use a floppy disk drive when you are in your 3rd year of computing at high school.  This teacher is now the head of IT at the school, I'm so glad I stopped with the computer classes or else I would have gone crazy.

today actually i applied for a class change for a better tech teacher cuz the one i have atm was teaching how to do page breaks in word (:dodgy:). tho unlike teachers from before, she wasnt scared to death when i was tracert -ing random sites out of boredom =P

the other teacher is said to be teaching stuff about 2 years ahead of what he's supposed to, so i hope it'll be good =]

Wow, it must be so annoying to attend schools that blocks out certain websites. IMO there's just no good reason for the administrators to do that - maybe it's just a question of them wanting to enjoy the feeling of being slightly superior to the school's students when it comes to browsing rights.

I'm not in school ATM, but none of the schools I've attended in the past had URL blockers - and it was no problem whatsoever. As long as the school disallows students to install harmful plugins from websites and such, I don't see what the fuss would be about.
At work (gas station) we have a personnel computer which has a very limited list of allowed URLs, maybe 20. This restriction, on the other hand, I find completely understandable since we're payed by the hour.

In regards your laptop: Taking the nature of your little proxy crime into account I don't understand why the teacher would bother to confiscate your laptop. I'll bet you anything they haven't bothered with turning it on.
No, I didn't search before
posting. Don't bother asking.
