RE: Do nouns have sexes?
Hmm, to me it sounds like absorbation is experiencing a form of synesthesia.
I don't associate genders with words and probably not even with colours, although I do see every letter and number as having its specific colour.

O common pink is the new white everyone knows that...
Hard question though... But what you think about the gender of nouns is probably related to your native language... and seeing Dutch has the most screwed up noungenderness (you know what I mean...) of any language I know... that is probably the reason why I think it is a hard question...

Sounds too much like French with the masculine and feminine, they're just words .
Yeah, in French everything has sexes. They do in Spanish too (But not the same )
Anyways, I don't think they do in english :/

In Latin words have sexes and all languages based on it have sexes too.
German has sexes too.
Almost all languages I know execept English have words with different sexes.
French has only male and female.
Dutch has only neutral and not neutral(male+female)
I think it's common people have sexed words.
Some words just belong to men like war and strength like make-up and beauty to women. (no intention for sexismn on purpose)
However the words above aren't sexed to the right gender in some languages.
Latin
bellum = war
-um = neutral

It is...its just that we say masculine and feminine now...we used to say 'gender', which is a synonym for sex. quote: Originally posted by absorbation
Now I have your attention using the word sex
Is this like the modern Plus! trend?
He, him, his, actor, prince, king, etc. are all male.
She, her, actress, princess, queen, etc. are all female.
