RE: New phone, but a problem...
I had some sort of a problem with my SE K300i
i found out that the phone was automatically switching to a a different profile,in which it tought i had pluged in an earpiece..
cleaned out the connecters on the bottom and restarted the phone
and never had that problem again

We are going to use what i call "the secret menu" to test the earspeaker. (It is actually called the service menu)
go to the home and do the following: -> * <- <- * <- *
<- = left on joystick
-> = right on joystcik
* = press star on keypad.
After you done that click on test settings (i think its called that cant remeber) and then scroll down to earpeaker. If it does not emit any sound it concludes that it is not broken
If it doesn't make any sound, surely that means it is broken?

RE: New phone, but a problem...
In that case Nathan is right and it's a firmware problem.
But still, the simplest thing to do is get O2 to replace it.

Well then, it is not broken. I would like you to master reset (reset settings only) and then tell me if it solves :it

RE: New phone, but a problem...
Since the problem occurred have you tried restarting it?
Also try checking if the phone thinks there an earpiece attached..

I did master reset, it worked for about 20 seconds and then just stopped
And now, the earphone service test isn't working either.

Jimbo why don't you just contact O2 about the problem..if anything they should tell you what to try/do (if they don't replace it right away). If you do as they say they can't put the blame of it beeing broken on you...it would be something else if you had had this phone for years, but this is a new one..warranty, use it!
