I was disappointed at the design when the 8.0 beta was first started, but when it went public and after lots of compaints about the design, it improved in the final release. When the 8.5 beta came to us, the design was still improved, but to me I think it's a little to much. They've added loads of nifty things to the design, and fixed a few glitches, but I'm still stuck in the minimalistic stage. So my favorite design has to be the 7.5 design :).

Nah. My choice is 8.5 > Pre 8 > *. A lot of messenger oldies would agree that the best designs were in the old days.
Quite a few of them go as far as to say that MSNM 4.x was/were the best versions of the entire series. :P

I too like 8.5... only when patched though (the advert and all those unnecessary buttons are plain UGLY) ...
