Disabling it stopped the freezing for me so .

i don't have the plugin enabled, only the skype one and plugin VER, so far so good though, i re-enabled the DPart feature no problems yet.

hm, I think its a skype problem, do you have skype installed and signed in?

* -dt- thinks its having issues setting the skype mood text and its freezing messenger until the timeout happens

The same thing is happening for me. It happened as soon as I updated to the newest version of Windows Live. Perhaps WLM has built in its own Winamp integration now which is messing with Now Playing's control over it? I even tried disabling Now Playing and trying a Winamp plugin (namely Toaster) and that does a similar thing. (edit: that is, the modified personal message is replaced by "title - artist" by WLM after a short while.)

Not sure for PSM display but for nowplaying in menu you could add rules like I have in my code a few pages back to display the media type icon.
