Someone on the tek-tips.com forums recommended it when I asked how to remove MSN's banner .

I installed Windows Live Messenger 8.1 back in November and I was seeing some weird codes in my contacts' names. One of them told me that I didn't have the latest version of WLM which was Plus!(she didn't know what it was). Anyway, I searched on Google, found Plus! and installed it and I fell in love with skinning.

Great thread by the way. Just change the title to "How did you discover Messenger Plus!?"

Would be other answers if you had asked me how I had found Messenger Plus!.

I asked a friend what the weird codes were in her name because I had a few people (mainly girls tbh) that had them. She told me what it was and I just went to download it expecting it to be full of spyware ¬_¬ lol

The first script I downloaded was Alex's World Cup script. I noticed that scripting seemed quite easy and got stuck in.

I came to the forum a few days later to ask why my interfaces wouldn't work (IIRC it needed to be unicode ). I just haven't left since; I've met too many cool people.

(It's also cool to see that some of the people that had Plus! before me are using my scripts on a regular basis )

Pretty much the same, haha. It was back in the 3.xx days (I think I wrote down the version number in another thread somewhere....).

I really liked the .exe skin installers, and this forum had a nice thread about for the messenger version 7 skins, and thats why i joined.

Actually, just a little side note:
   The codes I saw in people's names were the IRC style ones... I downloaded MP!L the night it was released (although I had to wait about 10 minutes for it)

Good timing though, eh?

Discovered it when I was trying to install some adware and it turned out that some plugin called MsgPlus was bundled with it.
