ColorNick is supposed to be working with any Messenger version, as it only relies on Messenger Plus! to set the nickname... so it must work with Messenger 7.5 (and it does for me indeed). In ColorNick's Preferences, make sure you didn't check the checkboxes at the top of the window (for auto-coloration). Then open a conversation window with a contact, type /xcolornick and press Enter. To disable auto-coloration, simply uncheck the boxes at the top of the Preferences window, next to "Nickname" and "Text" (in the tabs). Then you can use /xcolornick in a conversation window.
