I'm in the same boat as Philomela. I just hate the way that MS forces people to update. MS updates their products to keep things going and money flowing. Anyway, I'd like a working solution as well. I'm using an MSN alternative atm. Tia.

Wouter, maybe you should just include the needed dll's in the installer and it'll save a lot of ppl headaches :p i've tried dozens of different microsoft files: vb6 runtimes, mdac, whatever..don't ask me what they do though, my programming knowle...

first tried it a few months ago...always got runtime error 430 when i launched messenger so i waited a few months for a new release, tried it again today..still same error, yes runtimes are installed
