Unfortunately no, thats not possible to get rid of, unless you get into the actual source code of messenger, and even then I have never seen it done. Its scales just fine, dont worry. A tall iPod looks surprisingly good. I did develope it on a 1280x1024 screen, so that would be the recommended resolution. I added a button to that area in my skins. It toggles the Formatting Toolbar. The toolbar toggle buttons should come standard in MSN, theyre so useful.
