RE: Hacked! I completely agree with Ihunath! :) Hey Scone, why don't you just pick up some old computer from the street or a dump, amd make a software router/firewall/et ceter from it? Just install a Linux distro aimed at that purpose, and you should be fine :) | user2319 | Tech Talk | 11-05-2004 at 07:31 PM |
RE: Windows Codename Longhorn - Really revolutionary? IMO, the goodies suck. MS just adds new "goodies" for every new Windows version, but they should optimize what they have right now first, and then, and only then, add new things. edit2: I just plugged in my Dad's pen/memory stick, and SUSE... | user2319 | Tech Talk | 11-05-2004 at 05:04 PM |
RE: MSN Music vs iTunes I didn't see any info about DRM, amount of CDs you can burn, et cetera. I know he said MSN has 5 big labels, and iTunes has 4. I'm asking who these labels are.. And ofcourse I could search for that, but I'm waaaay too lazy, since I'm not going t... | user2319 | Tech Talk | 11-03-2004 at 04:02 PM |
RE: Can you make your desktop picture have animation? I once did this, and it sucked. It slows your computer down enormously! I mean, just a stupid background already slows your computer down, but it's nice. But these animated pictures don't have any added use, get annoying, and slow down too much. | user2319 | Tech Talk | 11-02-2004 at 08:33 PM |
RE: MSN Music vs iTunes You should add info like "Is there DRM?" "How many CDs can you burn your song on?" etc. This isn't comparing with all the facts. I don't buy music online, but I would go with Apple if I did. edit: Oh, and who are the "big labels"? | user2319 | Tech Talk | 11-02-2004 at 08:31 PM |
RE: Windows Codename Longhorn - Really revolutionary? Another bad thing about integreation is that the various integrated components are so much integrated that they can't function when program "x" is not working properly. So, when a user *beep*'s up program "x", and then he can't use program "... | user2319 | Tech Talk | 11-02-2004 at 08:25 PM |
RE: [hardware?] computer boot problems ME, what MoBo do you have? I have an Asus A7N8X-VM. RE: formatting order! So when's that going to be released? I thought it was already delayed several times? So who knows when that will be released?!? | user2319 | Tech Talk | 07-16-2004 at 10:06 AM |
RE: [hardware?] computer boot problems The PSU might be damaged, but then the mobo shouldn't get power, and I know that 300w is recommended for Athlon XP's with a Barton core, but it should work when hdd and dvd-palyer and diskette-station are disconnected, and it worked before.. :-/ | user2319 | Tech Talk | 07-14-2004 at 01:55 PM |
RE: The OS wars: outcome decided! I agree with Choli and Raceprouk, but might add that you don't HAVE to make money out of it. You can also program for fun, and because you just did it for fun, why not share the fun with others and open-source it? And there is no company that makes ... | user2319 | Tech Talk | 07-14-2004 at 01:37 PM |
[hardware?] computer boot problems specs are at the bottom. I have built my own computer, and it worked great for some weeks. But now I have a problem. It won't boot anymore. RE: windows install onto SATA drive weird. I have heard it's very hard to install Windows with a SATA hdd, though. You might want to e-mail Micro$oft about it, or the hdd manufacturer. | user2319 | Tech Talk | 07-05-2004 at 06:39 PM |

RE: Calling all linux users So basically, you're telling "Windows only has only this one advantage, and I suppose ..." and than the conclusion is "I don't think it's worth it switching to Linux"? Yeah, right :P | user2319 | Tech Talk | 07-05-2004 at 05:44 PM |
RE: Calling all linux users That isnt much for linux terms, but it still beats my windows boxes ;) And dont get me wrong, this box isnt just doing nothing. RE: Gmail Down? What's so cool about GMail? Who needs 1 GB anyway? You aren't going to fill it up :S Maybe you can get 50 MB full, but any more?? And besides, my hdd has much more free space then 1 GB. Is the 1 GB mail-service worth your privacy? | user2319 | Tech Talk | 06-22-2004 at 09:57 AM |
RE: Calling all linux users Remember how confusing Windows was the first time you used it? ;) Have you used a newbie-friendly distro? Like SUSE or Mandrake? Was it perhaps a few years ago? Remember that Linux is evolving very fast. | user2319 | Tech Talk | 06-22-2004 at 09:05 AM |
RE: Installing Mandrake 10 I have never tried Mandrake, but if everything's okay, you should just burn the (3?) CDs and put in CD1. Make sure that in the BIOS it will first check to boot from CD. Then you should get an installer. Your CPU is very slow, so OR mandrake will be ... | user2319 | Tech Talk | 06-22-2004 at 08:38 AM |

RE: Shouldn't the forums be cleaned??? Are the old posts saved? So they can be restored when - for example - there's a new server, which can handle way more? And if something like that happens, will these posts be restored? | user2319 | Forum & Website | 06-15-2004 at 08:34 PM |
RE: Dell,Gateway, Or Mac? As I said before, these Cs aren't commonly used, and there's no reason to use them, unless you are afraid people will not know that Microsoft and Windows are protected names.
