RE: Microsoft Zune - Secret gold mine?
The Zune "three" restriction is being incorrectly reported a lot. The three days/plays is only for Zune encrypted DRM files. Your own made stuff (that I expect you won't encrypt) doesn't have the "three" restriction. I think that the sampling i...

RE: Itunes wont play through all speakers (Itunes 7)
If you're playing stereo two channel sound, then using all the speakers isn't the "correct" way. Your other media player software upmixes the audio to use all six (or seven, depending on your speakers) channels. Maybe iTunes can't do this (becau...

Windows won't startup
On my old computer, I added a second hard disk. It's detected fine. Now, Windows won't start. Normally, and now still, it shows "Verifying DMI pool data" on a screen from the motherboard (Award or Phoenix BIOS I think) that looks like the one tha...

RE: Uninstalling a program that does not exist!?
I'd say that it's a hardware problem (perhaps overheating or power loss), not a virus or some other dodgy software.

RE: help (visual keyboard)
Don't do that next time. Just leave it to dry somewhere well-ventilated for a few days, and I'll probebly work.

RE: Diffrence in DVDs
They are both just record-once DVD disks for a DVD burner/writer. They are meant to behave like regular DVD disks once they are burnt. The main difference for their their use is that some older set-top DVD players can only read one kind. There are ot...

RE: WMP Problem/MPEG Problem.
You can leave it enabled (full hardware acceleration) in the adaptor settings, but configure your video player to not use it.

RE: WMP Problem/MPEG Problem.
You'll have to keep the settings for now. I expect that an update to DirectX or your graphics drivers will fix the problem. Do you have the latest DirectX? It's 9.0c, there has been other 9.0 versions before that.

RE: WMP Problem/MPEG Problem.
This is very strange since you have the problem in both WMP and VLC. I suggest that you try updating your graphics drivers. It seems to me that the problem is with overlays and not actually with video.

RE: I think there should be more fluidness to the skin.
I like the narrower textbox. If it were wide, then I think that it would make it hard to follow. Going from one line to the next is much easier when the lines are shorter and the end of one is closer to the begining of the next. It matters more when ...

RE: My guestbook is being spammed
I just remembered Engadget's uses email validation. You can have the guestbook entries saved to the database, but set to not be shown on the page you. You send an email to the poster, with a confirmation link that will make their entry visible in th...

RE: Wireless or wired?
For the people whose wireless won't be able to be leeched because there is nobody nearby; do you live out in whoopwhoop, or do you have really bad reception? My wireless works all around my place and my neighbours with stock antenna on the AP and st...

RE: Firefox fucked
How about after the page loads? If not, then it's probably images loading that had no size defined in their HTML tags, and the page being resized to make room for them. Just wait for the page to load fully, or press "stop".

RE: PS2, OR XBOX?
Probably not big games for very long, but it's not like Sony made lots of games anyway. Games are made by external developers, and they will release on whatever platform will make them more money, so while most people have PS2 and not PS3, games wil...

Nearly all recent CPUs have a socket connector. There are different types though, and you need a motherboard and CPU that match (and matching RAM and graphics card). There were different types of slot connectors as well. I wouldn't refer to them as ...

I connect my computer to my gateway by fast ethernet (wired). I also have secure Wifi LAN, but it doesn't get used. The other computer gets no network.
