RE: TextArea too slow
Or use the Quick Reply at the bottom of the page. Also, I've noticed the new post page loads fairly quickly, compared to the edit page.

RE: Netscape = illness?
I stand corrected, but my original point still holds.

You both replied too fast: I'm using Quick Reply for this. Wasn't logged in when reading previous posts.

RE: TextArea too slow
If you call Athlon XP2600 and 512MB DDR400 slow, then yeah. It can take 4-6 seconds at times. If the TextArea was loaded before all the buttons and such that aren't vital to its workings, would it load quicker?

TextArea too slow
The main text control (when you write a new post) takes far too long to load. Is it possible to get it to load in less than a second? Or is it just a Mozilla thing?

RE: Netscape = illness?
Having read the entire thread, I think I will throw in my 2 cents. If you want a suite, get Netscape or Mozilla. If you want a browser only, get IE or Opera. *All* of the latest versions of them (by latest i mean up to 3 years old) are *fully* standa...

'Sex' setting in profile
It seems that you cannot successfully change it to 'Other' - it always ends up as 'Undisclosed'.

Common Troubles
On my website, I am putting together a section that deals with common problems with Messenger and Plus!. Any and all help in identifying these problems and their solutions will be much appreciated. The address of my page is http://www2.cs.man.ac...

RE: Unload Plus! Plugin DLL's in VB
Yeah, the VB DLL loading procedure is fickle like that. I've found that VB itself can also register the DLLs: I used to build my plugins outside of the Plus! directory, but after finding out what VB does, I build them straight in the Plus! directory...

RE: Messenger Plus! 3 ??
I need to check these forums more often! Anyway, I'd be happy to test. I have the following: Windows Version: Windows XP, 5.01.2600 Messenger Client Version: 6.1.0207 and they are always updated when necessary (read as soon as new versions come out)...

RE: Tags in nicks: Msg+ or otherwise...
One of my contacts has expressed an interest in such a feature, and when I think about it, it would be possible to arrange it so that the randomly generated numbers were sent with the message text. However, this would then cause problems with command...

RE: Tags in nicks: Msg+ or otherwise...
I'm not sure you fully understood what I meant. To clarify: Imagine a special tag, put in the nick in raw form, and parsed by the client each time the name is actually displayed i.e. On server: <blah1> [tag] <blah2> On client scre...

Tags in nicks: Msg+ or otherwise...
This is going to be a quite complex question. One of my contacts has expressed an interest in a random number generator for Messenger, that can be used in a nick. To be precise, the ideal behaviour of such a plugin would be to generate a new random n...

RE: 3 sound plugins
A bit longer between updates this time: 72 hours instaed of 25. This version adds three more sounds, taking the total to a nice round 25. Enjoy!

RE: 3 sound plugins
This must qualify as the fastest plugin update of all time (under 25 hours): here is a new version of my Red Dwarf Sounds plugin, up from 10 to 22 sounds! Sadly, this has made the file bigger, but it still comes in well under 1meg: happy downloading!

3 sound plugins
These are my first three plugins. They all do pretty much the same thing: add sounds to Messenger+. The contents of the archive are as follows: AllYourBase_sound_plugin.msi - A simple plugin with one sound (guess what?) MatrixSounds_plugin.msi - 5 so...

RE: if (strcmp(sCommandArg, "") == 0), which it never does...
if (strlen(sCommandArg) == 0), which it does with no arguments. I should have used that to start off with really.

RE: if (strcmp(sCommandArg, "") == 0), which it never does...
I seem to have forgotten to mention sCommandArg is a pointer. I have tested this, and I found that when no argument is supplied, *sCommandArg is the NULL character.

if (strcmp(sCommandArg, "") == 0), which it never does...
Can someone please help me figure out why
if (strcmp(sCommandArg, "") == 0)
never evaluates to 'TRUE'? *-) Or do I just not know how to use pointers properly?

RE: Windows registry: how hard can it be...
I made the changes, and it still won't work. I can't remember if I mentioned exactly what the problem is: the code cannot open the registry, let alone read it.
{ bool retValue = TRUE; long retCode = 0; HKEY regKey; unsigned l...

Windows registry: how hard can it be...
I know this sort of carries on from my last topic, but this problem is unrelated. Promise. OK, here we go. I haven't yet figured out how to embed the sound data in the .dll, so I am trying to use the registry to find the Msg+ plugins directory, and ...

RE: What is the best way to play sounds using C++?
Adding winmm.lib to the link list in the (alt-f7) dialog worked, but now I just have to figure out how to use pointers properly. Hopefully, I'll have the first of the plugins ready by the end of the month.
