RE: Opera is now... free. I'll get worked up when people get the facts and not the tripe from Internet Groups. Only the Opera for Linux is GNU Certified, the rest are under General Software Freedoms as defined by the Encyclopedia in your local library, NOT the Wiki. Don't... | Garndell | Tech Talk | 09-24-2005 at 02:09 PM |
RE: bitorrent program? www.bittornado.com It may be a bit old & the GUI lacking (it's undergoing a complete re-write) but it works solidly & is reliable. The coder behind BitTornado worked with Bram Cohen on the official Bit TOrrent client so he knows what he's doing. | Garndell | Tech Talk | 09-23-2005 at 09:27 PM |
RE: Recommendations for Athlon 64. Cheap Athlon64 would be the 2800+ while expensive would be the single core FX-57 or the Dual Core X2-4800. Current cores are: Venice (Former Winchester) - 512KB Cache San Diego (Former Clawhammer) - 1MB Cache Manchester - 512KB Cache (this is X2 so ... | Garndell | Tech Talk | 09-23-2005 at 09:24 PM |
RE: Opera is now... free. If -dt- says the world is flat does everyone agree with him? Just because a group of people have 1 definition of "Free Software" does not make it apply to every piece of software you don't have to pay for. Giving negative feedback for what is cl... | Garndell | Tech Talk | 09-23-2005 at 09:16 PM |
RE: Favorite Sitcom? Frasier. It's the kind of dry, intelligent wit that gets me laughing. Family guy is great too. | Garndell | General Chit Chat | 09-23-2005 at 09:05 PM |
RE: What's your IQ? Your general IQ score is: 134. Acording to Mensa it's: 157. Oh well, I have another 6 monthly test in December :). | Garndell | General Chit Chat | 09-23-2005 at 09:03 PM |
RE: Opera is now... free. Except Opera doesn't class as GNU Software which makes that point worthless. Good to see it's free now, i've already been using it for a while as I never liked Firefox (even less now it's a status symbol like the iPod). | Garndell | Tech Talk | 09-20-2005 at 08:02 PM |
RE: Graphics card memory?? ID Code: 10DE-0322 100% PCI part. It does have 256MB of GDDR1 Memory. The reason the box has AGP8x is that the FX series of Chips support AGP primarily, followed by PCI & later PCI-E too (see FX5750). The good thing is your board has a PCI-E slot s... | Garndell | Tech Talk | 09-20-2005 at 12:38 PM |
RE: Graphics card memory?? Is this the board? http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd/av/ If so you could have PCI-E OR AGP. | Garndell | Tech Talk | 09-14-2005 at 08:24 PM |
RE: RAM... If you've got 512MB of PC3200 (400MHz) DDR buying another 512MB of PC3200 won't increase the speed (unless Dual Channel) just enable you to do more. IMO 256MB is the absolute minimum for Windoes XP which makes Windows XP 64bit 512MB minimum (since ... | Garndell | Tech Talk | 09-11-2005 at 12:03 PM |
RE: Graphics card memory?? There isn't more conclusive proof without actually checking each memory module on hte card individually with the naked eye. The BIOS will read the Hardware Code from the card which if it's wrong, won't work. Congrats on getting more VRAM than ex... | Garndell | Tech Talk | 09-11-2005 at 11:57 AM |
RE: Graphics Card Comparisons Yes the 9600 Pro is a better card than the 5700LE. To be fair to ATI i'm running my old Radeon 9600 256MB now and it will happily run the following at 1024x768 Medium Quality with no AA/AF (Anti-Aliasing / Anisotropic Filtering) Half Life 2, Doom3, ... | Garndell | Tech Talk | 09-09-2005 at 06:57 AM |
RE: Graphics card memory?? Reboot and look at what the very first screen says (should boot up showing "nVidia GeForce 5200 blah blah" it'll tell you how much Memory the BIOS is detecting. That is the amount it has, the BIOS can't be fooled as easily as software can. | Garndell | Tech Talk | 09-09-2005 at 12:23 AM |
RE: Graphics Card Comparisons And one reason is because the 6800 series lacks the Hardware WMV Decoding on the PureVideo chip while the 6600 & 7800 has it. The other is, the 6800's always had solid competitinio in the X800 & X850 series, while the 6600T has next to no competit... | Garndell | Tech Talk | 09-09-2005 at 12:16 AM |
RE: So... Time for Patchou's announcement... GTalk Plus!??? gmail is still Beta, despite several people claiming othrewise. RE: your worst Viruses, Worms, and hackings in your computer Zero Hacks, Zero Virii, Zero Worm's & Zero Trojans have gotten past my Router/Firewall/Anti Virus combination. RE: So... Time for Patchou's announcement... GTalk Plus!??? LOL, nice round number... I agree, GT is nothing to shout about. It's the same with Apple IMO, all hype, not the same follow through. Everyone wants a piece of google & Apple yet it's a fad, nothing more. | Garndell | Tech Talk | 09-06-2005 at 09:48 PM |
