RE: hopper download
Only slightly off topic but.... Is there a way to stop ppl using this? I got a few dimwits on my list that use it excessively (gotta have them cos they are clan-mates). I don't want to turn the popup thing off because it is a very useful feature.

RE: Dell,Gateway, Or Mac?
Gateway suck. Mac way too expensive, too many flaws according to RECENT reports & not 100% compatible. Dell, can't say a nice word about them. Voodoo, top notch PC's with excellent performance & excellent Tech Support.

RE: uk broadband
To remove the wires why not go for the Wireless Router, would make things a bit easier and also Network friendly.

RE: Computer shopping
LOLZA, Dell blow when it comes to PC's. For nearly a year they have been on a slide in quality & performance. http://au.dir.yahoo.com/Business_and_Economy/ Shopping_and_Services/Computers/Retailers/Hardware / Try that link for AU & NZ base...

RE: Computer shopping
At the very worst your PSU would need to be switched voltage or just a new one got. The internals of a PC are pretty much Universal. If I (a Brit) bought an American PC I would either switch the PSU or buy a new PSU in the UK to replace the one tha...

RE: Computer shopping
*crazihouse - just so you know your "sig" is incorrect on the IP & server, lol. *Scone - Sony do make excellent machines. If you go to www.google.com.au & search for "PC Retailer" you will get a nice selection of local retailers for PC's (make ...

RE: uk broadband
Of course Cable is a little different ;) I get TV, Phone & Internet through one fibre-optic link. No need for microfilters or "BT" or even "xDSL".

RE: mp3 music
I only download what I like the sound of, the fact I download from original bought CD's doesn't enter it. As a UK resident it is illegal to even RIP your own CD's for PERSONAL use. I have a MP3 player (not an iPod due to my hatred of that brand) ...

RE: bittorrent information
www.bittornado.com is what I have been using for a long time. The main coder helps with the OFFICIAL BT Client so has a lot of inside knowledge. It is fast & reliable. Also try: www.potuk.com .org for the tracker which you MU...

RE: Euro 2004 - (Portugal)
Fact is the keeper flapped & fell over. You can't blame that on english players, you can blame it on the Ref. In the first half yellows were given to England but not Portugal for IDENTICAL offences.

RE: Euro 2004 - (Portugal)
The Portuguese had a 12th man, the ref.

RE: Computer shopping
My personal suggestion is, if it's a media PC (editing, making, watching) then get something based around Intel. If you are going to do some gaming and some Media etc the AMD is the path to choose. As you live in the land down under I won't sugges...

RE: Would you donate money if you got a msgplus.net email account
I'd pay to keep Plus! alive, I get more emails with my ISP than I can realistically use so the account would be an incentive, just an extra.

RE: Should i buy it???
If you want to buy nVidia it is up to you. I would avoid PCIe until it becomes more widespread. The X800 (which Halo nutter) is mentioning is a good card, but don't believe benchmarks. ATi are in the docks for using tweaks that are against fairne...

RE: Should i buy it???
9600XT, 9700 Pro, 9800 Pro, 5900XT, 5700 Ultra all dropping in price and all capable of holding their own for a while. At the moment 128MB is pretty much same performance wise if not better than most 256MB cards.

RE: Should i buy it???
http://graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/2003 1229/index.html Read all about it there. Put simply it is a Budget Direct X 8.1 card, so not really capable of DX9 games & only okay at DX 8.1 games.

If you plan on playing current of future games don't. If gaming isn't your cup of tea then yea, go for it. ps: Should be posted in Tech Talk.

RE: Windows Media Player 10 Technical Beta
I found Quicktime doesn't like Avantbrowser too much. I use Winamp for MP3's, MPC for QT & RM files & WMP10 for all M$ Formats not already mentioned. I won't be installing QT or R1 & won't be advising my clients to do so either. The Tsunami Fi...

RE: List of up-comming games.
Correct me if I am wrong, but GTA is a game. Like it or not it is still a game. I do believe Rage aren't best impressed with Nintendo at the moment, wonder why that is, cos they make some excellent games. I think he means by getting it through Stea...
