RE: i keep on gettin a ''run time'' pop up....
Probably spyware/malware/badly written plugin - Commonname toolbar was one of the first to cause this problem. If you disable third party browser extensions you are only hiding the problem, not fixing it, and all other plugins will stop working, even...

RE: Malware being advertised at this forum
That might have been a good point if the site being advertised had not been www.smileycentral.com...

RE: Malware being advertised at this forum
TB, my post was perfectly polite - not a single swear word, purely information. I'll leave it to you to work out within yourself why your response was so extreme. If you checked your facts before posting I wouldn't have to say this...

RE: Malware being advertised at this forum
I see that your new advertisements are live - very Google'ish. The very first advertisement I saw was for www.smileycentral.com (paired with www.briefcase.com).

RE: Malware being advertised at this forum
What a lovely, backhanded, compliment. I hope that you see that you need to hear an alternative viewpoint on your forums, Patchou, not just a cheer squad. Let's face it, if I hadn't said something your 'forgotten code' would have taken far longe...

RE: Malware being advertised at this forum
If Patchou can block Smiley Central because it conflicts with Messenger Plus! (though that isn't what I see on the non-English sites) and block adult ads because he didn't want them, then he can also block Gator because its bad for his users, and ...

RE: Microsoft's Anti-spyware Software...
Tonight I have downloaded and installed several beta program updates (yes, legitimate updates as a registered beta tester), SnagIt 7.2, Deepnet Explorer, Acrobat Reader 7 and the latest version of my antivirus programme. None of these programmes hav...

RE: Microsoft's Anti-spyware Software...
The EULA says a person must be at least 18 years of age, and the owner of the target computer, to be allowed to install the Sponsor.

RE: 2 Toolbars from hell
Hi Karin, Check out the information and advice at: Messenger Plus Sponsor Program successfully removed LaLa removed the sponsor program successfully, as did her brother.

RE: Microsoft's Anti-spyware Software...
Which site was that? I'm sure that you'd only use a legitimate download site, and there are many in this forum that would love to have a look for themselves so please share. In the alternative, perhaps you will post the *entire* Giant detection ...

RE: Microsoft's Anti-spyware Software...
It says Messenger Plus is an Adware Bundler which is true. It says that the Sponsor is OPTIONAL. This is also true. It does NOT say that Messenger Plus is spyware.

RE: 2 Toolbars from hell
The Sponsor Programme has two toolbars. A silver bar (top of screen) and a blue toolbar (bottom of screen) that is installed when IE's home page is changed from lop's page to anything else.

RE: [split] the sponsor program again
Not when its described as ''simply a small searchbar'. The easiest way to answer your question is to disable the 'small searchbar' (you know, that silver thing that takes up the entire width of the screen) and nothing else, and see if the popups...

RE: [split] the sponsor program again
I'm saying it is not 'simply a small searchbar'. It also changes your home page, generates pop up advertisements, adds links to your favorites, adds icons on your desktop and adds another Passthrough toolbar if you dare change the new home page b...

RE: [split] the sponsor program again
NOT. It also changes your home page, generates pop up advertisements, adds links to your favorites, adds icons on your desktop and adds another Passthrough toolbar if you dare change the new home page back to your original choice.

RE: [split] reputation system abuse
I wouldn't mind in the least if you added options to hide everything.

RE: [split] reputation system abuse
Correct me if I'm wrong here but such an option would not hide a person's reputation score from other uses; simply clean up the screen for the person that opts out (mind you, the fact that you brought up hiding age brings to mind that after seeing ...

RE: [split] reputation system abuse
Or, as my brother says, 'put up and shut up'. Let's face it, the reputation system *cannot* be avoided. That situation won't change when we're told not to complain about it :S

RE: [split] reputation system abuse
How can we avoid it when there is no way to turn it off, we can't hide it (like avatars and signatures), we can't opt out and there is no way to refuse or block votes.

RE: [split] reputation system abuse
The entire idea is fundamentally flawed - that suggestion will not improve matters.

RE: [split] reputation system abuse
Reputation voting is inherently flawed.

RE: [split] reputation system abuse
Yes, I know this is an example of going after a spammer, but its still proves my point. Herd voting can and does occur, even amongst 100+ posters.
