RE: Universal Power Adaptor For Laptop
I wouldn't risk it, tbh. Your processor core generally runs at 1.5-2.0V - so in there, that's a 25 to 33% increase. I wouldn't expect male pins of a different voltage to fit, in all truth.

RE: Oh yeah... New 'buntu released 8.04 Hardy heron
Any experience with working with parents, etc about computer repairs will show that Nile is right. I'd say about 75% of PC users are newb and think like that. I have the edgy install disk, and I'm currently using Hardy (Synaptic? pfft front end......

RE: My first Xbox 360 issue realisation...
Indeed Nathan, that's a fanboy comment there. :P Eddie: If you're sure that your XBox isn't tilted, then call MS customer support. I doubt it's likely that there's anything you can do yourself to fix it.

RE: Oh yeah... New 'buntu released 8.04 Hardy heron
Yeah.. there's a reason for 3 beta 5: They were planning on having Firefox 3 stable by release date... but it's not. :) I would imagine that it'll probably be updated to 3 when it comes out. Hopefully. :)

RE: Anyone been to Amsterdam?
I haven't been in six years, but I do remember that I quite enjoyed the canal trip - on a boat, of course. If only because one of my mates nearly fell in. :)

Multiple Presences
While I don't particularly want to ask this one in public (just cause some of you won't know what multiple presences is yet :p), there's no where else. Is there any way via to work out if you're signed into more than one location? I know MP!L's ...

RE: Music Festivals 2008: Which ones are you going to?
Disturbed are pretty amazing Nile. I'd probably go to more of em, except I have an urge to drive everywhere, which costs a hell of a lot of money considering the Scottish border is 60 miles from where I live, and most of them are far south. Was thin...

Give it a name London. Paramore [at least.. you know - Hayley is the sex after all] and 30STM. :)

RE: is this pc good enough to play top-end games??
As far as I'm aware, Aero is written using DirectX9 function calls and hence it will make no difference whatsoever if you're using a Dx10 card or not.

Yeah Volv is right. Posting too early in the morning - and I was referring to old-style IRC tags. :) I was thinking that the OP must have had Messenger Plus! installed in order to find this forum.

RE: [Help]Html code doesn't show
IRC style formatting tags (which is what these are, rather than HTML which uses < and >) are formatted correctly only when using Windows Live Messenger and Messenger Plus! Live 4. If you want to see these properly you will have to ask your contact to...

RE: is this pc good enough to play top-end games??
I agree with Jesus, if you want games, get a desktop. I will however point out that as Sam says, the main suck factor of that laptop from a gaming point of view is the Intel Graphics chipset. Look for something with an nVidia DX10 (ie, 8 series) chip...

RE: Fatal Stop c000021a
If the hard drive is encrypted then you will need to use Guardian Edge's software to read the data, otherwise there's no way to repair it. There may be a pre-install driver for Windows XP, but I'm not sure.

RE: PS3 or XBOX 360 ?
Almost all ethernet cables are Cat 5e, but they do not cross-over. You always require a crossover cable to implement a wired ad-hoc network. Usually the router takes care of this.

RE: PS3 or XBOX 360 ?
Don't you need a Cat 5e crossover cable rather than a standard ethernet one to do that?

RE: PS3 or XBOX 360 ?
The distance between my room upstairs and the telephone socket downstairs requires 3m of telephone cable. It's quite likely that there's more of a distance for Chris. And I seriously doubt the included ethernet cable is longer than that...

Of course, using non-forensic tools, a single full-zero format will make it exceptionally unlikely for someone to recover your private data. On the other hand, the police would be able to - there's some trick involving inspecting the way magnetic fl...

RE: PS3 or XBOX 360 ?
Chrono is right. I think I've already said that. As for a mouse on a console, what's the point in that? You would need a keyboard as well, and that's just turning your console into an overpowered gaming PC... Of course, that's pretty much what th...

Then it's lies. As soon as you break open the seal on a Hard Drive the metal plates begin to oxidise, losing any data stored on them. Burning = combustion = reaction with air = hardcore oxidisation.

I loved Ashampoo stuff until I realised that most of it's functionality can be found in free software. shred on Linux and Unix systems is extremely powerful, but it's command line, and I can't find a GUI Windows version. [url=http://www.pcmag.com/...

Hmm. If you buy a PSP now you'll miss out on all the neat stuff... like playing [finishing] Crisis Core in the UK 2 months before its out :). What Basilis is saying isn't exactly true. Gears of War and Halo 3 are amongst the best games I've playe...
