RE: PS3 or XBOX 360 ?
I dunno why people are saying there's NO online play with the PS3, there is. And with most games the online functionality is the exact same as on the 360, albeit without the XBox-Live features. I think if FF13 moves to 360, then I will buy one of th...

RE: windows vista
VHP has no backup, fax program, RDC, or BitLocker. Most of the "Ultimate Extras" can be installed on any version anyway, for example I have DreamScene on VHP. As for the other programs... BitLocker is extreme for any home users needs (I TrueCrypt ...

RE: PS3 or XBOX 360 ?
PS3 - the hardware isn't a bit better than the 360, it's a lot better. The Cell BE when properly utilised... well. It's scary-fast. :) As far as I can see though, it looks like most of the PS3 exlusives might not be as exclusive as one might think...

RE: Is Firefox better than IE for businesses? [old thread warning]
3 years ago I would've been tempted to say IE was much better in the business place since it did have the backing of Microsoft behind it. While in some people's eyes that's a bad thing, it does mean that support is much more readily available - po...

RE: Uninstall Built In Keyboard.
I don't think there is a way to disable an individual keyboard device in Windows. There may be an option in the laptop's BIOS to disable the build-in device, though in almost all modern laptops this is a long shot. Generally the keyboard will lift ...

RE: really dodgy windows problem
Network booting can be achieved by setting up a "Netboot Server" on another PC. See this Afraid I've never used it before.

RE: really dodgy windows problem
If resetting the CMOS didn't work (which is unusual, though I've never seen that done on a laptop) then you could just take the hard drive out the laptop, get a 2.5" adaptor or enclosure for it, and use ntpasswd on it in another computer. I believ...

RE: Ubuntu + Virtual PC Console
That stuff about VMWare Workstation isn't true, at least, I've never seen it. Just get VMWare Server. It's free and lets you make virtual machines, the only downside is that you can't use sharing folders, but you can attach it to a Netbios networ...

RE: My replied for vikke for his letter to me
At my old work we still used Windows 3.11 because they couldn't afford to upgrade to a newer version of Windows and a newer version of the software - the 3.11 version didn't run on 95 or anything else. Since you people take far too much effort in ...

Generally, you're correct. However, if a game lags in single player then it will of course also lag in multiplayer. The two definitions are quite different, even though to the casual gamer they seem the same. - Processing Lag: When the computer can...

I personally love VNC. It gives you total control. If you're stuck trying to forward ports I would recommend taking the time to learn and begin using Hamachi. The free version is more th...

RE: Reinstalling Windows without actually losing installed programs/drivers theory
It could work, if you were lucky. But I don't see the point in it since all you'd be doing is replacing the Windows files, which can be done with a repair install anyway. If you're trying to get a base system every time you re-format, the best way...

RE: Users' old usernames
Again, people are slightly seeing this as overcomplicated. Easy way to do it: Add a "admin_comment" field to the database which is retrieved at the same time as the rest of the data. As long as the admin who changes the user name remembers to updat...

CS/Source, WoW, CoD4. Also I used to play WC3 and D2, but those were a long long time ago. Tried C&C3 online, but I appear to be losing my RTS touch.

RE: Upgrade
I use a floppy disk drive. I have a USB one and an internal one. 1) They are not too small for anything. A standard IBM-PC BIOS boot sector is 512-bytes. Of course, this is generally used as a boot loader, however, can come in very handy in rescue s...
