RE: Top 10 video games.
I think Gears of War needs to be added to my list. I've started playing it through, such a good game. Could've done with being a bit longer though. :)

RE: Figure this one out!
Would be my first choice as well. I don't think it'd be the MFT though, even stranger things happen when that gets corrupt. This definitely sounds odd to me. It'd be very smart (yet annoying, of course) for a virus to be able to format a system p...

RE: What's wrong with this laptop?
Man. Dell should be slapped for calling 15.4" ultra-portable. I have a 15.4" HP, and it is a LOAF. EEE is ultra portable. :) But if you like it, that's all that matters eh? :)

RE: This will convince you?
So it's like when a Scotsman goes to London? Or when F. Canadians refuse to say four-twenty etc? Perhaps, if it's not too much (which I guess it might be) some sort of differencing engine might be used. The one which really gets me in English is ...

RE: What's wrong with this laptop?
I have two guys in my office who have Dell stuff. One has the top of the range 24" Dell monitors and a Dell laptop, and loves it. One is a student and has a cheap Dell Inspiron and think's it's crap (and I have to admit, it is pretty damned slow....

RE: preg_match() help!!!
http://uk.php.net/preg_match : Do not use preg_match() if you only want to check if one string is contained in another string. Use strpos() or strstr() instead as they will be faster. :)

RE: Newb At HTML And The Likes
No, I would say use XHTML now but be prepared to change in the future. Once you've got HTML down you'll realise it's not going to be that hard to adapt. If you use Firefox you may wish to install HTML Validator, it'll tell you if there are any er...

QFT. http://www.novatech.co.uk is pretty cheap for some stuff as well.

RE: A Military Response To Phillip's Apocalyptic 2012 Thread
I've been watching Spooks Code 9. I think the program gravely underestimates what would happen if a nuclear bomb went off in London. The effects of this would echo throughout the world. Britain would grind to a stand-still. There's a lot of other ...

RE: Newb At HTML And The Likes
Be aware that in the coming years what you learn here may change. XHTML is currently what most people prefer (as opposed to HTML v4), however, the next implementation of XHTML (commonly known as XHTML2) is going to be a subset of HTML v5 rather than ...

RE: Web Developers Needed
I could help if need be, although there's a catch. Draw me something and I can code it, but do not ask me to draw. :) I think my avatar can be used as an example of this. :P

RE: Is it possible to bypass this?
Boot PS3 Linux, install VLC. Watch DVD. Done? Or does the lack of graphics make that fail?

RE: Is it possible to bypass this?
If I remember correctly libdvdcss (which is used by VLC) does not require the region of the drive to be set anyway.

RE: anyone know where i can get winXP SP1?
No, it only has one copy of each file which it overwrites, and then marks the security updates between the two releases as installed. You can actually extract the contents of a Service Pack and be left with an almost complete Windows install folder (...

RE: What do you think of the ''Twilight'' saga?
So it's like the Lestat series but more modern? Heh. I know a girl who is in love with Lestat. I then clicked the wiki link to see that the main character is Edward Cullen, who this girl has recently told me she is also in love with. So yeah, /agree...

RE: Nintendo DS
Get an EEE PC. Nah, kidding. (Well, not really, but kidding in the sense it's not a console). I have a PSP but I'd probably choose a DS, just because thanks to seriously rampant piracy the PSP's new games list is suffering. In all honesty, I'm no...

Hard Drive Failure
So, like 2 months ago I treated myself to a Samsung HD501LJ - 500GB 7200RPM with a decent cache. It arrived, I divided up my HD (250gb allocated to NTFS partition, rest left blank for the moment) and install XP X64. All good. Today, I decided to sta...

RE: Play wii through Vaio Tv tuner? - Gt it on my laptop, but SEVERE lagging, please help
Ok, my general answer at this point would be no. You may be able to get a component to vga adapter for cheap, but as for DVI... not going to happen. Very expensive - DVI is digital, there'd be a lot of conversion involved. And then I read that you h...

RE: Split Ethernet Cable without Router
No, this means that it will split a phone line. You plug the phone line into a modem, do you not?

RE: Split Ethernet Cable without Router
No, this appears to be a phone line splitter. I don't know about in Australia, but in the UK they are very different cables. In fact so much so, that we had the common sense to use a different plug for our phone lines. :)
