RE: messenger hacking
Hi, charliegirl - what makes you think someone is tampering with your account? Regarding the event log viewer, I don't think that is any indication of anyone accessing your account. Firstly, I would guess that when it says you have been logged out ...

Whoops! I didn't mean forget about the PCI thing. I meant just take a break from it and don't even think about it.

RE: Home network problem
I couldn't say, you can speculate as much as you like but with lack of information it's a bit pointless. I think the best thing to do is just forget about, you'll come back to it with a clearer mind. By the way, I never have to proffread ...

RE: Home network problem
How'd I miss that? Um, that basically means that windows has detected something like a modem or a network card but can't really determine exactly what it is. I wouldn't expect to have it on the laptop though. Look in the Device Manager again, thi...

RE: who thinks msn is a waste of time???
Is this the reason you were asking whether it's a waste of time, s3xy? You can always use MSN Web Messenger, this would be fair on both of you. Sometimes I use messenger to type to someone who's sitting rig...

RE: Home network problem
If you have access to any other computer/laptop, try connecting to it and see if it works. You should be able to determine where your problem is better. Do you still have a spare PCI slot on the PC? Get your hands on a PCI ethernet card - buy one, bo...

RE: Home network problem
No, it would be powerd by the PC - but when the PC is off then it wouldn't be providing power anymore. It was a bit off topic, so ignore it. If you can get your hands on a patch cable, try it. Sometimes the solution is as simple as that. Check your ...

RE: Home network problem
Perhaps you really need a patch cable? I don't know how a usb ethernet port works. Normally if you are connected to a switch you can still see lights even when the computer is off (although the usb adapter may need to be powered so it may not work t...

RE: Audio and picture on my movie
I won't go into an explanation of VBR (variable bit rate, as opposed to CBR - constant bit rate), although it could be an issue it doesn't seem like that is the case here - it doesn't explain the video pausing.. Did you try VSFilter? If you haven...

RE: Audio and picture on my movie
I would guess that you have a corrupt frame in your movie - what happens is that basically all the frames after that are also read as corrupt until the next keyframe. If this is the case you'll have to repair all the errors first, you can find heap...

RE: Audio and picture on my movie
I always ran into trouble with virtualdub when the audio was VBR - Go to Audio -> Interleaving -> Audio skew correction and mess around with values (usually anywhere between 350-1500) and see if it changes anything.

RE: web cam
I always assumed that what ever you saw was the same as what you sent - if you saw 24fps you might think your contact is getting a great feed, whereas in reality they may only be receiving at 1fps..

RE: Accessing a restricted folder
Here's a utility that makes recovering EFS files easier - EFS Key It works in a similar way to fergy's method, it doesn't crack the encryptions or anything.

RE: Knowledge vs. Faith
In Christian views, Satan is a liar whose goal is not to make you worship him, but to turn you away from God. The logic in this is that if you're not following God, you're following Satan - the bible states that if you're not moving towards God y...
