RE: Ultra portable laptop
Out of those, I would choose the Thinkpad first without even giving it much thought. Dell would be a consideration only if it was substantially less expensive or otherwise more appealing. HP is simply a "hell, no" in this class and price range. I...

I canceled my last landline years ago (back in the analog modem days I had two). I can't see why anyone would waste money on a landline for personal use today, unless they a)are forced to get one with DSL (phone service is not required to have DSL ...

RE: User's country flag in postbit
This discussion is certainly not intended to challenge anybody's national pride. However, I think it is reasonable to ask that the flag selection on this international forum is limited to internationally recognised countries.

RE: User's country flag in postbit
For the purposes of flag display in an international forum, the selection should be limited to internationally recognized independent countries. England and Wales are not on that list and adding them to please the UK citizens here is silly and confu...

RE: help with CGI:IRC
I agree with MeEtc's analysis and IRC port blocking by web hosts is common (I've enountered it before myself). The server listens on some alternate ports (thank TReKiE for providing this info). Try to configure your script to connect on 7000 or 56...

RE: Is this normal? (Emule speeds)
eMule wasn't meant to be fast. It works best if you have an "always on" computer where you tag something and then forget it for a week or two. You will get it eventually.

RE: (Reasonably) New to Linux
Actually, rps had nothing whatsoever to do with me switching to a Mac. :P

RE: (Reasonably) New to Linux
It's probably not the answer you were looking for, but seriously -- consider switching to Macintosh. With OS X, you will get a UNIX(FreeBSD) OS with an outstanding and consistent GUI on top, a good selection of apps, and all of it will [i]just work...

RE: Hard Drive Light
Assuming you mean the power and hard drive activity lights on the front of your computer case, you can very easily disconnect them from the motherboard. I don't think there is any way to turn them off via software.

RE: Confused on my AGP card
1) You should use the latest driver from Nvidia website. 2) You can see how much memory your card has. Click the "Start" button, "Run..", type "dxdiag" and click "Ok". On "Display" tab, you should find information about your card, includi...

RE: Disk Partitioning?
It shouldn't make any difference whatsoever -- and hasn't in a long time, even if the defaults for what disk management likes to do only have changed in Vista. NT-based versions of Windows (including NT 4.0, 2000 and XP) have all been quite happy...

RE: Sharing an Internet Connection Between TWO Pc's
