You would have to make sure they are exactly the same ram if you were going to do this. Ram runs alot better in duel channel mode. 7600 will play The Sims 2 fine. Will even play games like Portal and Bioshock (obviously not on the highest settings). Oh and if you ever get into gaming all you will need is a new gfx card. Tbh your better off buying a 2gb kit (2x1gb). Then if you want later you have room to upgrade to 4. DDR2 ram isn't that expensive these days.
