RE: IDE HDD limitations
I just have a plain old XP disk (no SP's), so I might get PartitionMagic and see if it can merge partitions.

RE: IDE HDD limitations
I'll probably not use the 200GB for Windows, more likely for downloads, but we'll see what fate has to offer. atm I'm using Seagates, one 40GB (winxpprosp2) and a 60GB for downloads (couldn't install xp on it so it replaced the old 1.5GB one) My ...

IDE HDD limitations
I've been reading up on the subject, and what I found is that IDE HDD's don't go larger than 137.4GB on XP. (just checking if that's true?) Now, seeing as I'm probably getting a 200GB disk from a friend, I'm not sure if it applies to SATA disks...

RE: old tech!
My dad has lots of old stuff that pretty much resides in a corner of the living room, and it comprises of a few CD-ROM drives, some old SCSI drives that were apparently used as extra video memory, some blanks and lots and lots of ethernet cables. We ...

RE: Windows won't start up
Maybe, but I'm sure he would have noticed a big black mark (or even a small black mark) on the surface while he was installing the new CPU. Of course that would mean that it LITERALLY "blew up" instead of the metaphorical use of the phrase.

RE: Windows XP Pro doesn't shut down.
eh? That's not off-topic at all... If it _is_ a virus (which it probably isn't but meh) then in my opinion McAfee isn't likely to pick it up, seeing as it already hasn't when you scanned. Thus, certain other AV software may be able to detect the ...

RE: Windows XP Pro doesn't shut down.
[s]McAfee sux :( I use Ad-Aware and NOD32[/s] Rephrased: You really should scan with at least two AV's :)

RE: BitComet "Yellow Light" Message
IIRC (which I probably don't), open up your browser and type in your router's IP, usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 or something else. I don't know if that's the right way to do it, but meh. EDIT: beat me to it :P

RE: Error in WLM (again)
Just in case you still care, I'm not too sure if MSN 7.5 or lower is compatible with Visty here. The only thing I can think of is that you're got the x64 version of WLM, but it should have "x64" somewhere in the filename, so that rules it out...*...

Logitech Media Keyboard + Firefox tabs
Is there any way I can set an F Key to close a tab, eg: Input for F Key command = C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe -closetab /current or something similar (these parameters are obviously fake, they're just to imitate a fx command)

RE: Burning Tools
Meh, I've tried some of these, but I figured out how to use Nero now...

RE: Burning Tools
The driver update required that he set it as Master (that worked fine) and on the Secondary IDE. Seeing as a P5B mobo doesn't have two IDEs, it didn't work. Anyway thanks for your suggestions guys. :)

Burning Tools
I just got my dad's relatively new DVD-RAM drive (LG) because it didn't work on his new Core 2 Duo PC. I want to burn a DivX .avi but Nero SmartStart (what was installed from the CD) isn't helping. Any recommendations?

RE: strikethrought the word "SAYS"
[noparse]She may have had a go at the msgslang.dll file (this is where some of the string tables for WLM/MSN (?) are kept). Unfortunately, I too do not know exactly how to do that by hacking your msgslang.dll. It might also be because she put this at...

RE: Make your name HUGE in WLM.
Do you _have_ to have the funny unicode characters there for the text to be big? If so, LOL.

RE: Searching
Firstly, what exactly are you trying to search with? Secondly, if you search by gender, well, it's not very specific is it, so you'll get too many results. Also how do you search via picture? Sorry if i got any (if not all) of this wrong :S

RE: Windows XP theme not working properly
[may be offtopic] Not in XP it doesn't. Look at Vista's Classic theme. Start button's icon is the Vista logo. Same deal here. [/may be offtopic]

RE: Vista Hates Me (or is it the other way round...?)
Exactly. Just says "filesystem error". I'm back on XP cause UAC didn't let me turn it off...:dodgy: Perhaps it had something to do with me downloading it from a torrent? Meh.

RE: Vista Hates Me (or is it the other way round...?)
Thanks. Now how I turn UAC off? It keeps giving me filesystem errors.

Vista Hates Me (or is it the other way round...?)
Okay...I've installed Vista Home Basic, had a slight problem with my sound card but that's fixed, but I can't install WLM. It gives a 1652 error and tells me to go to http://messenger.live.com to download the latest version of WLM, which is where ...
