Well I just installed Vista onto a virtual machine and backgrounds seem to work fine, so I'm just gonna format (AGAIN!!) and hope for the best...pity no-one knew what the problem was - still! Not really. In Plus! 3 when you locked messenger, the icon DID CHANGE to the network drive icon.
