Making new colors in Build 300
Well I went through the schema documentation and noticed that making custom colors resources is there, today I had a play with it and came across something odd. When I made a new color it made my skin become disabled and no longer appear in the list ...

RE: [Bug/Deficiency]4006/4002 affecting skin development process
Yeah with the transparency thing all I did was just extract the scrollbar's 4006 file (since its stretch margins cover the whole pretty much) and edited it in a hex editor and changed the last part of it from 10 to 40, then I would just place that ...

RE: Skins Ideas
First one isn't possible because you can't control transparency in WLM that way, Second one is possible but some aspects will take some effort to get working. By effort I mean something more than just standard image replacing, you will have to res...

RE: [Bug/Deficiency]4006/4002 affecting skin development process
Hmm no :P thats about as far as my knowledge goes in this matter, but something else that I came across today in my skinning adventure is something you may want to look into. If you replace a resource and that resource has something in the 4006 that ...

RE: [Bug/Deficiency]4006/4002 affecting skin development process
Nice :) Ok well what I mean with 4006 is this for some pngs they have a corresponding file in 4006 with no extension (much like colors in the 4002 group) at the moment you have pretty much every single property that the 4006 group sets except 1: Whe...

RE: Suggestion: Window Thumbs Database
That there is not anything that is defined by the UIFiles, that dialog and some others that appear through WLM is defined by msgslang.8.5.1302.1018.dll so it isn't anything that you can edit unless you hack at the dll file which btw is a bad idea :P

RE: [Bug/Deficiency]4006/4002 affecting skin development process
Yeah that is due to the fact that WLM makes all PNG images have a black background if used in the background tag by default unless you make a resource in 4006 that tells it to show transparency. The shaft isn't an image, its just defined by a color ...

RE: [Bug/Deficiency]4006/4002 affecting skin development process
Heres something else to consider Patch, I was just playing with scrollbars and then came across something else that I forgot to ask about. The 4006 group contains the stretching and colorization information for images (which I don't really have to m...

RE: Windows Live Messenger 9.0 BETA
Hey man we can argue that for the future of skinning we need to get into this beta ASAP :P So I'm sure someone will do it ;)

RE: Windows Live Messenger 9.0 BETA
Oh god I hope not :P, Worst case scenario is they finally implement an Aero enabled WLM which will make skinning in Vista horrible :S And if MS does indeed implement skinning I bet anyone a happy meal that its going to be like winks and dynamic dps ...

RE: [Bug/Deficiency]4006/4002 affecting skin development process
That would be fine Patch, but from what i gather the colors in 4002 are different from standard argb values. They also have a C or a B state where C=no colorization and B=colorize so as long as we can set this as well then I'm all for it :)

RE: [Bug/Deficiency]4006/4002 affecting skin development process
If you like I can post up one i created so you can test it Patch, they don't have any file extension so im not sure how it will work.

RE: [Bug/Deficiency]4006/4002 affecting skin development process
You need to be able to add or replace into the 4006 group, because the 4006 group also contains images that are displayed when its 4000 equivalent is inactive. Oh and if you can do that to the #4002 group then that would also allow us to have coloriz...

RE: Advanced Colorize
Well the reason I mentioned colorize groups is because they would probably be easier to get working (correct me if I'm wrong :P) and is sort of a fall back idea if they can't get HSL adjustments working. Of course if they can get HSL implemented th...

Advanced Colorize
Well as Patch suggested, I'm posting up a more official thread on a feature I would like to see happen in the skinning engine. Making color themes at the moment would require a skinner to either work with WLM's native colorize feature (which isn't...

RE: Adding Content to the 4002 Group?
:P The reason I ask is because I would like to have a custom text color that also colorizes and yeah the 4002 group is necessary in that case. Anyway its not a big deal I can live without it ;)

RE: [Skin] Apple Live Messenger
Ok first of all that was your first mistake, using a patched messenger to base a skin on. Second of all you didn't add the resources into the SkinInfo.xml and lastly with plus you can only add resources with numbers of 59000-59999 so having 841 and ...

RE: [Skin] Apple Live Messenger
I've figured it out :P You are referencing images that don't exist in the 923 style section. [code]content:rcimg(844); [/code] [code]Content:rcimg(841); [/code] Just change those two to images that do exist and it works :)

RE: [Skin] Apple Live Messenger
@mynetx ok what was the last thing you edited in 923? ill see if i can error correct for you

RE: [Skin] Apple Live Messenger
if you were missing a resource the 923 section needed then that is what would have caused the problem. The only way to check for errors is to go through it manually :P *Edit* Damn got beaten :P

RE: [Skin] Apple Live Messenger
Well I just took a look and the issue seems to be in the 923 Style, the second you remove the 923 style declaration in SkinInfo.xml the skin works. It appears you have an issue there somewhere in the 923 section.

RE: Adding Content to the 4002 Group?
Ah, I didn't even think to use that :P That is definitely a better option. Ill have to play with it later on tonight then.

RE: Adding Content to the 4002 Group?
I was just seeing if there was a better way to manage this because I do not want to end up having to manage a whole bunch of different UIFiles for something as simple as changing the text from White to Black depending on the theme you pick. My guess ...

Adding Content to the 4002 Group?
Well I'm a bit stumped at the moment in the skin creation process. Basically I am making color themes with what I'm working on and I needed a way of controlling the text color from theme to theme without the need of having a whole bunch of differen...
