RE: Javascript Page Loading???
You can't trademark a script. The only thing you can trademark is a name. You can copyright a script, but what you see is not a script, it's a couple of HTML tags rich in CSS. Now, it doesn't close on page load, it actually closes when a plugin s...

RE: Ipod music Transfer
Huh? Well.. I guess if you're using some sort of library system, file names aren't important. If you ever want to maintain your collection, I'd recommend getting the names in order before the merge though.

Heh, well you will need to get Windows to recognise the Ubuntu computer as the default gateway.

RE: HELP! C000021a Fatal System Error
Shouldn't that be the same as the full format? I guess it's worth a try. I really think it's a physical problem, but I guess you should try everything. If you've got any Linux LiveCDs, see if they can format your drive, to make sure it's not jus...

RE: Javascript Page Loading???
It's not, I was just saying in case you weren't sure. Erm, part of me thinks whatever you're waiting to load could contain a little css at the end which hides the loading screen or something. I'm pretty sure that's not it, but that it involves ...

RE: Javascript Page Loading???
For a long time I would have agreed, I haven't done it myself so I'm not sure. But many things have suprised me, I've seen drop down menus and OnHover sort of stuff done using only css, which I never thought possible. BTW, The page in question re...

RE: Tablet opinions.
I think they were looking for ways to get the tablet and monitor in one package, but not as a separate PC, more like a graphics tablet that you attach to your PC. So I guess you could buy an LCD and this and you would have a graphics tablet that als...

RE: Javascript Page Loading???
People are always quick to push for Javascript when there is usually an easier CSS solution. The great thing about CSS is, it works on more browsers, and doesn't require that evil of web 2.0, client-side scripting!

RE: Ipod music Transfer
there's probably a script somewhere for extracting ID3 tags and renaming files accordingly.

RE: Ipod music Transfer
That's stealing songs! If you browse the drive, you will find the mp3 songs, with hashed filenames. The files are essentially intact though, id3 data and all. ;)

RE: Digg?
The vast majority of people who point fingers at Microsoft have no idea what they are talking about, but that does not imply that what they are saying is wrong. This is definitely the misinformation age, and it's harder than ever to fight your way ...

RE: Digg?
IANAL. I really hate that anagram and that it needs to be said. If you're taking legal advice from some anonymous geek on the internets you've got a serious problem. @linx05 - Sorry, the other guys are right, you don't get much in the way of right...

RE: Tablet opinions.
Socks are substantially cheaper than graphics tablets. I was always in the "the NEXT thing I buy will be a graphics tablet" group. I've only used them a couple of times but they feel so natural, you become the artist you always wanted to be. Furth...

RE: Digg?
But Cookie, clearly the Mafiaa aren't trying to stop illegal copying and the like, because they have made it so easy for anyone with some technical know how and some time on their hands to do so. It'd be nice if they did screw the people doing the ...

RE: Windows Explorer alternative (suggestions?)
That shouldn't be too difficult. There's bound to be a registry entry somewhere to change that. TC looks pretty nifty. Just curious, why do you want to replace explorer anyway?

RE: Firefox Search problem
Very strange. Apart from a complete uninstall and a reinstall, I don't really know what to do. There's probably some environment variable or something that's awry. The Mozilla site might give you an irc channel the developers are usually in...

RE: HELP! C000021a Fatal System Error
By the way, I did some hunting, C000021a is a kernel panic generated when when Winlogon or Csrss fails. Normally this is fixable, but since you hard drive has died too, that might have been the cause [ie, the drive won't read where Winlogon or Csrss...

RE: HELP! C000021a Fatal System Error
Looks like you could be out of luck :( Check the bios settings and make sure the settings for your hard drive and CD drive are correct and the cables are connected properly. Since it only breaks when disk access actually begins, I think you can rule ...

RE: Is it possible to link a file to another file?
The data will probably still need to go through your computer, yes. Essentially, if you're going to run a program on your computer, you need to get it into memory somehow. The thing about doing it with Python FIFOs would be that you wouldn't have ...

RE: Is it possible to link a file to another file?
I'm not sure if Windows has named FIFOs but that would be my bet. You might be able to write a short Python script to get data from those files and pass them straight back out. Even better would be you running those files straight from CD/DVD, if th...

I followed all of that from the comfort of slashdot. I don't think the digg users were being immature at all, it's a fight for freedom and it's time the mafiaa fell. The leaking of the processing key should be a message to all the do-gooders out t...
