Have you installed any other ad-ons or programs since? This could be the cause to why Messenger Plus! isn't there. Another program could be interfering with Plus! and preventing it from loading. Is It just the deafult sound, or is at all sounds in Messenger? Also check If the sound it set: Open Tools > Options > Sounds. Under 'New instant message' set it to 'Default'. If you prefer using Windows Live Messenger 2009 instead of using 2011 you easily can.
