chat logs by xxrootxx on 09-28-2007 at 04:52 AM

when i go to open a persons chat log from clicking "open chat log" the msgplus log viewer takes like 5 or more minutes to load the whole chat log which really sucks.... i was wondering if there is a way to have it like the older version where it just opens a note pad?

Plus > Preferences > Conversations > Chat Logging

Under 'Save Options' select "Save as plain text files"

that doesn't do anything, it's already set to that, and it shows it in that laggy window is there anyway for me to get rid of it?

You could use Log Manager, which is an excellent script for managing and converting log files :).

Because you logged them as HTML files, you can't open it in Notepad (well in fact you can but I think it is too much pain to pick the original messages from all complex HTML tags.) absorbation suggested you to convert your HTML log files to plain text files. Give it a try!

Also if you really hate Log Viewer that much, you can change the default program which will be run when you click "Open chat log" from inside Messenger through Messenger Plus! Live's Registry Settings. When the page opens, read the text in the first paragraphs and then search page for ChatLogOpenWithViewer, and apply those settings to your registry. Good luck!

None of the values mentioned below are present by default, they have to be created manually.

By the way, if your logs are plain text files, I am not sure this setting will help you open them in Notepad.
