O.P. /silentinstallnosponsor Switch starts MSNMSGR.exe
Well, the switch used to start Internet Explorer to the updated/new install page. I can see that doesn't happen anymore, but it still starts up MSNMSGR.exe which can be a distraction to some of us who use it. Is there a switch that does the /silentinstallnosponsor but without executing MSNMSGR.exe, and maybe a small progress bar showing the progress(or something which says it's installing, and exits after finished install)?

thank you.

Well no, there cant be any progress bar as its silent :p. As for launching Messenger at the end, I don't think it does if Messenger was not running before (silent install only. Messenger is always started during a normal install).

I checked right now, a second time. MSNMSGR does get loaded up right after the MSGplus finishes installing.

I believe if you use the 'TaskKill' command this will terminate MSN messenger for you.

code:
taskkill /F /IM msnmsgr.exe

I hope this can be of some use!

That's what I already use...I'm just wishing I wouldn't have to use it, because it's simpler if I don't.
