1200% Faster on 56k? How fast were you going before then?
I know that people in USA and some other countries still use 56k because it's free. But they are still selling paid 56k accounts to?
I wonder how much that costs you a month, is ADSL like that expensive or just not availible in you region?
To compare it with the Netherlands for example...
- 56k: Availible in the whole country, no subscription for most providers, but you'll need to pay telephone costs a minute which already becomes expensive if you are on the net more then like a few hours a week. Same kinda counts for ISDN line, except you'll need to pay more when you use more lines to dial in with.
- ADSL: widely availible, except from some areas where don't live alot of people. Availible in various speeds ranging from 256/128 Kbit down/up to 8192/1025 Kbit down/up. Prices depend on the speed and quality of the ISP, like 7.95 euro (~9.76USD) a month for the slowest speed and about 60 euro (~73.71USD) a month for the fastest speed.
- Cable: Availabillity depends on what services your local cable provider has. Availible in various speeds ranging from 64/32 Kbit down/up to 6144/512 Kbit down/up. Prices depend on the speed and quality of the ISP, like 14.95 (~18.36USD) euro a month for the slowest speed and about 70 euro (~85.99) a month for the fastest speed.
Other types of internet and faster accounts are mostly only availible for buninesses or on schools/university's (100MBit Dutch FTP server rule
).
