I didn't get any spam and I have my msn address in my account...

I do and did have my email adress public on this forum and that's why I got the advert. But people shouldn't do that.

Well i didnt receive any spam either but some people here did, and i dont think that getting the emails of people from this place without permission and using them to advertise is not very good

My friend got the same thing... but he wasn't a user to this forum .

this problem is serious and many advertizing companies do similar actions thats why i avoid putting my emails as public.
although this is not gonna be the best solution but i think that there should be some terms when signing up with this forum (or other forums) not to collect emails, then even public emails should not be shown to guests, but only to members who agreed to the terms of service.
surely such terms will not stop spammers but maybe they'd help
