O.P. Serious Bug (Checking for Updates)
Choose 'Check for updates' in the 'About'-window, and MSN will completely freeze if the msgplus!-site is down. You'll have to close MSN with ctrl/alt/del.

Specs:

XP Pro
MSN 7.0.816
Latest Plus!

That's true, however, you get the control back after about 30 seconds, it does not need to be closed by force. I just changed the timeout to be much lower so that it doesn't appear completely frozen :).

Why not have a separate window in a different thread? Then you can stick with the TCP-specified 2 minutes.

Auto-update works like that but for manual update, it needs to be synchronous don't you think? :)

I suppose, but you don't want to freeze Messenger really, just the Plus! windows.
