If I open Winamp I get that, I click Cancle around 15 times, it goes away...And I can use Winamp freely

Whats the problem

It is telling the truth though...there is no disk in CD/DVD drive....but thats not the point

It shows the error and won't go away untill around 15 clicks

Move the following files out of the Winamp\Plugins folder:

ml_pmp.dll (portable media player support module)
pmp_usb.dll (usb device support)

Reopen Winamp

Confirm that the problem no longer occurs.

Now close Winamp again.

Move ml_pmp.dll back into the Winamp\Plugins folder.

Does the problem return?

If yes, then we have the culprit.

If no, then close Winamp, and move the pmp_*.dll plugins back into the Winamp\Plugins folder, one at a time, closing & reopening Winamp inbetween until the problem reoccurs.

Let us know which plugin causes it.

I removed those files...and then it worked...started adding 1 by 1...

pmp_usb.dll seems to make it do that

edit6: seems pmp_ipod.dll cannot be with pmp_usb.dll together...If you remove one or the other it fixes it.

Solved

I also had this problem but the earlier methods didn't help. For me  the problem was that under preferences the skins-directory was not valid.. so every time winamp started it tried to access my dvd-drive and if there were no disc..well you see.

So see if your skins directory is valid.
