O.P. Error 0x8000ffff and other such problems.
Ok i installed WLM 9 version 14 but i didn't like how it was acting with messenger plus! live so i uninstalled it....

....Big mistake....

Now when i try to reinstall WLM beta 2 i get this:

quote:
There was a problem with this installation. Windows live suite was not installed.

System error details:
Code: 0x8000ffff
Description: Catastrophic Failure.

I don't like the sound of that. Also when i try to install any other version from before the install fails saying that it could not install messenger and to try again also its reading that i have WL photo gallery and WL writer but there is no sign of anything windows live on my computer. i remember the uninstaller saying that WL photo gallery and WL writer were removed but clearly they were not.

If you guys could just get me back to 9.0 beta 1 that would be great. thank you.

If that worked, then download and install 8.5 directly from this MSI (just Run):

Ok thanks to zapmessenger and windows install cleanup i mananged to get WLM 14.0.5027.908 (the previous version of WLM 9 beta) back.

But now it gives me this all the time:
quote:
Signing into windows live messenger beta failed because the service is temporarily unavailable. please try again later.

Error code: 80004002

and also the "plus!" tab isnt showing up at all in the menu bar.

You'd be best to downgrade to WLM 8.5 until Plus! is updated for the latest WLM2009.

WLM 8.5 is stable and has no bugs.. also Plus! works fine with it.

Erm.. well the proper way to uninstall is to go to Add/Remove Programs, then uninstall Windows Live Messenger. It works 99% of the time.

If you come across problems, use the ZapMessenger again, then install the direct 8.5 MSI.
