You don't need programs to export your pictures (taken from the iPod, like downloaded ones and screenshots), it mounts as USB Mass Storage, by the way.

I can confirm you don't need the driver for the camera. It's handled like a USB Mass Storage device (as blessedguy said).

For everything else, follow what I said for the easiest way to get those drivers installed, then you can use SharePod or Songbird, etc.
