I recently upgraded to the newest version of MsgPlus 3.20.100 and I am currently running MSN messenger 6.2.0137.

I have custom names enabled which is great, but it means that I need to have view contacts by display name ticked in order to not see just their email address when I do things like right click the MSN icon in the task bar and go to send an instant message.

BUT

This setting (view contacts by display name ) is lost each time I reboot and it resorts back to the email default.  Is this an MSN or MsgPlus issue?

Unfortunately, "view by email" is required for the custom name feature to work. I'll work on improving this in future versions (tochange emails to names in the windows you are talking about for example).
