I Have Checked Options, And in "OPTIONS">>>"ALERTS & SOUNDS" All Four Boxes Are Ticked
You can try unticking em, exit MSN...restart and reticking em.
Also check if you go into sounds (tools > options > alerts and sounds..press sound button) if there is a sound specified under MSN Messenger for those events.
If that doesn't work do a reinstall, beta software sometimes does mess up
