O.P. Animated Gifs are going too fast
For some reason, all of a sudden, all of the animated gifs have started to go about 10x faster than they usually do. Does anybody know what the cause of this may be...

This problem is only happening in Mozilla Firefox 1.0.4

Hmm... just posted an animated GIF to test, and it doesn't happen with me.
Did you have the browser open for a while when it started doing that?

No, I just turned my computer back on, I haven't changed any display settings, and it only seems to be in firefox... I can't see the problem, everything is way too fast... I hate it :p...

Anybody got a solution?

Blade (.blade//), you're usually good with the whole "display" aspect of computers... Do you know how?

Can't seem to find anything on Bugzilla, but then I didn't do an exhaustive search.

Can you attach a GIF which all of a sudden started to animate 10x faster...

This problem happens mostly when GIFs are created with frametimeouts smaller then 10ms. Many (not-experienced or lazy) people create GIFs and don't bother to set the timeouts to a decent value. They set it to 0 or anything up to 10ms and think it will play with that speed they see in their browsers.

However, many browsers have a different way of showing GIFs then stand-alone animating programs and often can't show GIFs faster then +10ms. This means anything below 10ms will be shown as a 10ms delay (or whatever the treshold is for the browser's GIF engine). This can of course be influenced by cache settings or display settings or what not, depending on the browser. Some time ago, browsers were even influenced by your download speed because they constantly redownloaded the image while looping the animation (this is fixed now in every browser)...

In the address bar, type about:config
Make sure the setting below looks like this:

If it is, try reinstalling firefox.

Hope that helps.

This will not really help though... This settings only defines how many times the image should loop.

The possible settings are:
none... this will totally prevent image animation
once... this will animate the image only once
normal... this will allow it to play over and over (default setting)
