O.P. SETI@Home, and things like it
I used to have a thing on my computer called SETI@home, i know there were a few things out there like it, such as Folding@home, but i was just wondering if there were any other things out here like these ones that utilise your comptuers idle time for something half worthwhile?

There's also something to use your idle time to find a Mersenne prime number. Hardly useful, but fun. See http://www.mersenne.org/.

Is Folding@Home the same as the Google-provided protein-folding grid computing app?

Yes. With Folding@Home you download a program that runs calculations to simulate protein folding. The Google toolbar comes with a Google Compute component, which runs the same calculations.

Edit: I might need to clarify it's not really the same program. When you download the Folding@Home program, you are always devoting your idle time to that project. Google Compute simply works on the code its being given; now that's Folding@Home, but in the future this may change.

SETI@HOME stopped working with the original client.

All the @home programs I believe went to BOINC

I'm running three BOINC projects :)
