A website I regularly visit keeps suffering downtime quite annoyingly. I've been told its because of the domain not the host.

Just the other day i first found out that a website is actually on the internet through a sort of IP address and not the actual domain name...(hmm vince has finally shown himself to be a n00b with his wording of the above paragraph. Feel free to repeat this in future to shut me up)

Is  there anyway to find out the IP address of the address to access a website which would otherwise be down because domain problems?

when it's not down, by pinging it
start -> run -> cmd -> ping www.google.com

save the IP address. then you can use HOSTS (google for more information concerning HOSTS) to set the IP address of the domain name.

note that if the domain changes server, you won't be able to access it until you remove the entry from HOSTS
