O.P. Messenger live beta 9 on vista now IE not working anyone?

Anyone else having this problem. 

Installed Messenger live beta 9 on a friends vista machine now when you fire up Internet Explorer I cannot web browse ANYTHING.    No other web browsers are installed.   Messenger works so the web is active, IE is set to work online and is not being blocked by firewall.

found one person saying it's happened on their laptop. solution was to do a system restore back to before beta 9 messenger was installed.
