Hello all!

I have a problem that it's really annoying.

it's about sending sounds from the sound library.

İ have messenger 2009 (9.0 build 14) and Messenger plus live 5.82 and i think both is up to date.

So, Let me tell the details of the issue right now!

i had messenger 2008 and the latest messenger plus release

i was able to receive and send emotion sounds.

after some times :i installed the new release of windows live messenger.

Now i can't send emotion sound

i'm choosing a sound from the custom sounds panel, pressing send and waiting 3 second.

but the problem is :The sound isn't playing me back and i see a message in history just like:

[Messenger Plus! Sound] - Data{DA77CF78B67E} - baila morena.

and the person who i am talking with also can't hear and he receives it as a instant message...

hope i could tell my issue enough.

it's really annoying problem and i can't solve why this is?

The culprint is a known conflict with emoticons shortcuts. A simple search on the forum for "[Messenger Plus! Sound] - Data{" will show many threads which give you the solution.

So make sure you don't have any shortcuts to custom emoticons which might conflict with the special string which is used by Messenger Plus! to send sounds.

For example, if you have a custom emoticon with the shortcuts "!" or "{" or "}" or "[" or "]" or "*" or any other character which is in the special sound string which is used by Messenger Plus!, it will conflict with it.

So, change the shorcuts to all those specific emoticons and it will work again.

And make sure you did not tamper with Messenger itself or that you are running some patch which might change some localization resources in Messenger.

PS: It is a very bad idea to use emoticons for normal alphabetical letters anyways! It quite often is also very annoying to your contacts.

But... this bug should have been fixed long time ago (I can't reproduce it either with the latest version).

Speaking of which, version 5.82 does not exist yet. The latest version is 4.82. Make sure you have downloaded only from the official website: http://www.msgpluslive.com/.

What are your exact versions? You can find this out by typing (!VER) into a conversation. Paste that info here...

I can't send custom sounds either, I already made a topic but no one replied D:
I get this error
" An error has occurred while contacting the server, please try again later.
if the problem persists, check your security settings."
