Slow bootups on Win xp

O.P. Slow bootups on Win xp
when i start my windows xp machine just before the welcome screen i get a black screen and it stays like that for about 2 mins then it gets to the welcome and every thing is ok it been happen for 2 wekks or so

i have 512 mb of ram and the processer is an intel celeron

i have scanned  for spyware (using microsofts antispyware) and also adaware
all database scanners are up to date
also antivirus using macafee

does anyone know what could be making this do that the computer is about 6  Months old

Have you tried defraging your hard drive? I had the same problem a while back, and that seemed to clear it up

If you have alot of programs starting up at the beg then they will slow the start up down...if you want to look this up and organise the start up programs I recommend giving this a try : Advance Uninstaler Pro.

By the way I noticed that the Norton 2004 package also slows the start up time down by a large amount.
