Have you checked to see if the logging feature is turned on?

Go to Plus! > preferences > logging

And make sure the 'Automatically log all my chats by default' box is clicked

yes "automatically log" is checked; the preferences are exactly the same as all my previous versions of plus -- and they recorded logs of all my previous chats.  i've even turned off messenger's own chat logging system to see if that makes a difference.  so far, nothing helps.

Uninstall Plus and Messenger, then download and install Messenger 7 beta from http://messenger.msn.com and install Plus again.

thanks for the suggestion, but i didn't have to do that.  msn messenger just came out of beta, so i installed the "gold" version and chat logs now work again.

Yes, sorry, I meant Messenger 7 final, not beta...

just another name for "rtm" (release to manufacturing).  the first non-beta edition at this version level.  sorry if i was confusing.
