O.P. "Add..." feature.
Hey.

I have a question about the Add... feature which allows you to add someone else's personal emoticon as one of your own.

If I use the Add... feature, does MsgPlus! automatically put the emoticon somewhere in my computer? I mean, so I can find the file and edit it for example.
If not, how is it possible that I can load the emoticon if I don't have it in my own computer?

Sorry for my bad English, I hope someone understands the question.

You mean to save the emoticon as an image on your hard-disk?

StuffPlug-NG has such a feature, CE/DP Stealer, which let you save emoticons and display pictures of your contacts on your computer. It works by searching in the IE cache for MSN Messenger's files and is the best way I think.

Try it, unless someone knows a better way?

EDIT: damn you shrbr! :P

Um.. well.. I actually meant that if I right-click on someone's perso-emoticon and select Add..., does it save the file to my computer also?

I'm aware of the feature on stuffplug. Thanks. :)

you can use Print screen and open an image editor -> edit the smiley, and then export it at 96x96 pixels, at least that's what i do :)

Edit: the only problem is with the animated ones :O.

And the emoticons are placed in some folder like

"C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN Messenger" then select your Account ID

some of them are hidden, so watch out.

those are your emoticons, but, i dont know how to change that kind of extention like:

DAT to >> gif or jpg, or png :) sorry

Yes it does.

I don't know why anyone is talking about SPNG, as the 'Add...' is a feature of Messenger itself. So technically, we're in the wrong forum here.

Anyway, when you select 'Add...', Messenger recovers the files from a cache, lets you set a shortcut, and saves it as a .DAT in 'C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN Messenger\<passportid>\CustomEmoticons'. To recover an image saved in this way, copy the .DAT files to another location, and change the extension to .png. Any that won't open, change the extension to .gif.

;)

It is?
Oh.

Sorry, I thought it was a feature of MsgPlus!

But yes, that's what I meant. Thanks a lot. :)
