O.P. Headset adapter
incase you don't know i work in a call center, and the headsets they give you arn't work the matireals they're made of.

now i have a PC head set, its awsome, and i want to use it at work, BUT,it has a head phones and mic plug for computers so i need an adapter, i can't find one so i thought, why not build one

so far i bought a head phones spliter and cut it so i have 2 female port headphone jacks, each with 1 red and 1 white insolated wire

now the cable i need to adapt it to is the standard rj-11(or rj-14) phone cable, with 4 internal wires

now my research tells me that the middle 2 wires are for audio out, and the outer 2 are for audio in

i was thinking of jsut splicing them together using a telephone junction box

can anybody confirm that this would work, or am i wasting my time?

RE: Headset adapter
You may not be able to just splice the wires together: the phone headset may encode the voice before sending it on. Even if you can just splice, the frequency response of a PC headset is potentially wider than a phone headset, certainly wider than the frequencies used for telephony.
